Connecting a controller to your Steam Deck: how to use controllers on your Steam Deck

Controller am Steam Deck anschließen: so verwendest du Controller an deinem Steam Deck - decky.net

No matter whether you operate your Steam Deck via a docking station on your TV or you like to have your Steam Deck in front of you - there are often reasons to connect an external controller.

The easiest way to do this is with a Bluetooth controller. From Playstation 3 to Playstation 5 controllers, Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, XBOX, the GuliKit KingKong 2 Pro or even the Nintendo Switch Joycons, you can connect everything to your Steam Deck - the only thing you need to know is how to put your controller into pairing mode - we'll explain everything else to you in this article.

Bluetooth controllers are recommended

Wired controllers or joysticks also work, but they require a docking station or at least a USB hub. For the sake of convenience, we clearly recommend wireless controllers.

Connect controller to Steam Deck

To connect a Bluetooth controller to your Steam Deck, follow these steps:

=> Settings

=> Bluetooth (It is important that Bluetooth is activated.)

=> Put the desired controller into pairing mode

=> The controller appears under " Available for pairing " and can be connected

After successful pairing, the controller can be used immediately.

Customize controller layout for each game

You can set up your own controller layout for each game. For most games, other players have provided their configurations - if this is not the case, you can also edit the settings yourself.

To do this, proceed as follows:

=> Go to the games page of the desired game.
=> In the top bar where the " Play " button is, there are 2 more buttons - a controller and a gear.
=> Select the controller icon.
=> Here you can view and edit layouts.
