With the Hall effect joysticks for your Steam Deck LCD, you give your console drift freedom
Description
Description
What are GuliKit Hall Effect Joysticks for the Steam Deck?
GuliKit Hall Effect Joysticks are an electromagnetic replacement joystick module for the Steam Deck LCD (not OLED). Instead of mechanical contact points - which wear out over time and cause stick drift - they use magnetic fields for position detection. The result: precise control without drift, virtually no wear, and a significantly longer lifespan than the original joystick module.
The set includes a left and a right joystick (Type A and Type B), suitable for all Steam Deck LCD models. No soldering required - installation is done by simply inserting and screwing them in.
The Stick Drift Problem - And the Permanent Solution
Stick drift on the Steam Deck is caused by mechanical wear of the analog joystick potentiometers. The consequence: The character or cursor moves without the stick being touched. A widespread problem that worsens with every hour of gameplay.
GuliKit's Hall-Effect technology solves this problem at its root: Since there are no mechanical contact points, there is no wear and thus no drift. According to GuliKit tests, the precision is ±2-3 degrees - measurably better than the original ALPS joysticks (±5 degrees).

Compatibility - Important Note
Compatible with: Steam Deck LCD (all models) - Type A and Type B are included in the set. A small switch on the module allows selection between Type A (MEDA) and Type B (MHDA).
Not compatible with: Steam Deck OLED. A separate GuliKit model for the OLED version is available in the decky.net shop.
Installation in 4 Steps
- Open Steam Deck: Remove the back cover with a Phillips screwdriver (no soldering, no special tools needed). **IMPORTANT** Remove your SD card beforehand. Otherwise, it will break when opening the Steam Deck!
- Remove Original Joysticks: Unscrew and remove the old modules.
- Insert GuliKit Modules: Screw in Type A (left) and Type B (right) - you can use the existing screws.
- One-Key Calibration: Turn on the Steam Deck, press the small button on the module, start and complete joystick calibration in SteamOS.
Note: An iFixit guide for opening the Steam Deck is recommended. Otherwise, there are many excellent guides on YouTube.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Does the GuliKit Joystick permanently fix stick drift on the Steam Deck?
Yes. Since the GuliKit Hall Effect Joystick is based on magnetic technology and has no mechanical contact points, there is no wear that could cause drift. It is a permanent solution - not a temporary workaround.
Do I need to solder to install the GuliKit Joysticks?
No. Installation does not require soldering. The modules are simply inserted and secured with screws. With a Phillips screwdriver, installation is possible in approximately 20-30 minutes.
Do the joysticks work with the Steam Deck OLED?
No. This model is exclusively for the Steam Deck LCD. There is a separate GuliKit model for the Steam Deck OLED.
Is the touch function of the joysticks retained?
Yes. The original touch-sensing function of the Steam Deck joysticks - for example, for gyro activation when touching the sticks - is fully retained after installation.
What do "Type A" and "Type B" mean for the Steam Deck Joystick?
All Steam Deck LCD models use either Type A (model code: MEDA) or Type B (model code: MHDA) as the joystick variant. The GuliKit set includes both types, along with a switch, so you cannot buy the wrong module.
How is calibration performed after installation?
After installation, turn on the Steam Deck, press the small button on the joystick module to start calibration. Then, calibrate the joysticks in SteamOS under Settings → Controller → Calibration. The process takes approximately 2 minutes.
Is the GuliKit Joystick worth it compared to the original?
According to manufacturer specifications and community experience, GuliKit Hall Effect Joysticks offer higher precision (±2-3° vs. ±5°), no drift, and 50% less power consumption than their predecessors. For under 30 Euros, they are the most recommended upgrade option for Steam Deck LCD users with drift issues.
More information about the joystick modules can be found on the GuliKit manufacturer's page.
